Simmer Down (Part 1)
In rural Maine during the summer of 2002, I completed a 12-hour performance/experiment where I slowed all of my actions by 50% (eating, talking, walking etc). There was no visual documentation (no video, no photography) of the original performance. The video was composed a year later using narration from my observational notes combined with a short and simple video reenactment.
Simmer Down (Part 2: Try, Try Again), is a continuation of the original performance, where I attempt the experiment a second time in New York City.
Shot on the Staten Island Ferry at sunrise, Part 2 follows the documentary formula of the original by blending a repetitive video recreation with voice over narration.
